TRAINING

The Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department provides in depth training to all of its members. Members train on various topics including Structural Firefighting, Vehicle Fires, Search & Rescue Techniques, Hydraulic Extrication Tools, Pneumatic Lifting Bags, Aerial Operations, Pump Operations, Emergency Medical Responses, Technical Rescue, Water Rescue, and much more. Members are expected to maintain a minimum amount of training each year to be able to stay active in the department.

In addition, CVFD encourages its members to obtain certifications on various skills through firefighting schools such as Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy (FETA), Louisiana State Police Joint Emergency Services Training Center, Texas A&M Fire School, FEMA, & the National Fire Academy among others.

Our members currently hold a variety of certifications including Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Technicians, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Water Rescue Specialist, Fire Instructor I, EMS Educator, Extrication Technician, Emergency Medical Responder, EMT, Paramedic, and many more.
